Eileen: lost 3 stone with a Gastric Balloon

Sitting in a hotel room in Bournemouth for a weekend break with my daughter (we had lots of snacks and magazines for the weekend) I was flicking through the magazines and stuffing my face with packets of cashews and pistachio nuts, when there it was! The National Obesity Surgery Centre.

I’d had enough and was at the end of my tether. I was confused and bewildered with all the diets and pills out there, which I had tried and tested, but nothing seemed to work. I wasn’t getting anywhere, just bigger and bigger.

I decided to make the call and thank goodness I did. I went in for my gastric balloon 2 weeks later. It was the best decision I have ever made. The first week was a little uncomfortable but things started to settle down and the weight just fell off.

I’m now over 3 stone lighter and have dropped 3 dress sizes. I feel younger and have started to wear all the fab size 12 clothes I used to wear. I never thought I would get there again. I’m more confident and I’ve been told how great I look.

It’s now been one month since my gastric balloon came out. I’m following my support programme and being very careful to keep away from what I call the devil foods. The support I get from NOSC is fantastic, I couldn’t have done it without them.

My dietician was fab, encouraging me all the way to be positive. I’ve learned a lot about eating correctly again and I am now in control of my eating and my weight. The medical team was fantastic. I trusted them entirely and they looked after me so well.
