Philip: lost 8 stone with a Gastric Sleeve

I had tried for years to lose weight and though I could lose a few stone, I always put the weight back on plus a little bit more usually. At 32 stone, my weight was starting to affect my health, I was having problems sleeping and I had lymphoedema in my right leg that meant I had become less active. I decided that I needed a long term weight loss solution and meeting a friend who had lost loads of weight with a gastric sleeve helped me to make my decision.

My willpower had never been good when it came to food, so the sleeve fitted my requirements perfectly. Once it is done it is done and since having it all my cravings for things like kebabs and fizzy drinks have gone. I now eat healthily, I feel fuller MUCH quicker and am enjoying food like salads and omelettes that I would never have touched before. I had my sleeve with Mr. Agwunobi in Manchester and he has been fantastic. I was dreading the op itself, but I recovered very quickly and was up and about while I was still in hospital. The support from NOSC has been great too, they continue to be in regular contact with me and give me any help and advice I need.

I am so glad I had the gastric sleeve. In 6 months I have lost 8 stone. My whole lifestyle has changed, I do more with my kids, I’ve bought a pushbike and am now back at the gym training. I have loads more energy, my snoring has stopped completely and the swelling in my right leg has reduced by at least 75%*. My advice to anyone thinking about having a sleeve who has struggled for ages with their weight like me is to go for it, it’s the best thing you can ever do. My only regret is that I did not do it years ago
